While navigating through life, our brains heavily depend on the mental models that we create over time. Mental models are the information mappings that may come from various disciplines, like — Physics, Maths, Philosophy, Psychology, Programming, Economics, etc …

As an engineer, I have to learn several “latest” frameworks and technologies to keep myself up-to-date. But every once in a while, I feel like I’m falling behind of the latest developments in the industry.

I often think, if I leave my industry for 4 to 5 years and come back, most of the mental models that I created to get my job done, will be rendered useless.
