I’m “Not” in the Spotlight and Nobody Cares (Myself Included)

Just a little reminder to my future-self and the others

You know that feeling when you walk into a room and you’re convinced that everyone’s eyes are on you, judging your every move? Well, turns out it’s all in your head!

There’s this fancy term in psychology called the ‘spotlight effect’ that explains how we tend to think way too much about how others perceive us. But here’s the truth bomb — people are way too wrapped up in their own lives to give you a second thought!

Let me ask you something. How many times have you held back from doing something awesome because you were scared of being judged or criticized?

I’ll admit, I’ve been there too.

In fact, I’ve got this inbox full of motivational quotes from my past self to remind myself not to let others get in the way of my success. One of my favorites says, “You do you, and don’t let anyone else call the shots in your life!

I get it, though. We all have this fear of failing or being rejected. We’ve all had those moments where we’ve doubted our abilities and let that little voice in our heads say, “You can’t do this!” or “You’re not good enough!”
